Work in pairs. Take one card each. Step 1: plan your story (two minutes). Step 2: tell it in three parts: what happened, how your life would be different now, how you feel. Step 3: your partner asks two questions and tells the class one sentence about your other life. Then swap.
The chef who said no
Ten years ago you turned down a job in Paris. Now you run a small café. Tell your partner how your life would be different if you had taken the job.
The banker who quit
Five years ago you left a well-paid bank job to open a bike shop. You earn less now. Tell your partner how your life would be different if you had stayed at the bank.
The traveller
You missed a flight once, and it changed your life. Tell the story: what happened, and where would you be now if you had caught it?
The student
You studied medicine because your parents wanted you to. Imagine the life you would have now if you had studied music.
The one who stayed
All your friends moved to the city after school, but you stayed in your home town. Tell your partner what your life would be like now if you had left too.
The talent show finalist
Five years ago you reached the final of a TV talent show, but you lost. Imagine your life now if you had won.
