Work in groups of six (or four: cards 1–4). Keep your mission secret. The chair leads four steps: everyone gives their view; discuss the options; agree a decision; summarise and agree two action points.
1 · Chair
The office is too small for the team. Open the meeting, ask everyone for their view and stop people talking at the same time. After ten minutes, summarise the decision and agree two action points.
2 · Finance manager
You think a bigger office costs far too much. You'd rather staff worked from home two days a week. Mission: disagree politely at least twice.
3 · Sales manager
You want a bigger office in the city centre, because clients visit every week. Mission: interrupt politely once when someone talks about the cost.
4 · HR manager
Staff have told you they want flexible working, but some miss their colleagues. Mission: suggest a compromise that both sides could accept.
5 · IT manager
More working from home means buying 15 new laptops. A new office means moving all the servers. Mission: agree strongly with one idea and give a reason.
6 · Office assistant
You're taking the minutes. You can't find enough desks for new staff in June. Mission: ask someone to finish their point when they're interrupted, and read out the action points at the end.
