Lunch at the Corner Café: a hidden gem If you're looking for somewhere relaxing to eat in the city centre, the Corner Café is easy to miss, but well worth finding. This small family-run café sits on a quiet side street near the station. The atmosphere is warm and cosy, with wooden tables, plants on every windowsill and soft music in the background. The staff are friendly and never rush you, so it's a great place to sit and chat. As for the food, the menu is short but everything is fresh. I had the vegetable soup with homemade bread, which was superb, and my friend loved the chicken salad. The cakes are the real stars, though: the lemon cake is the best I've ever tasted. Prices are reasonable, and a main course and a drink cost about twelve pounds, which I think is good value for money. The only downside is that it gets crowded at lunchtime, so arrive early. Overall, I would definitely recommend the Corner Café to anyone who wants a peaceful break from the busy streets, especially if you have a sweet tooth.
