Last year, a small design company in Bristol tried a four-day working week. Although the employees worked one day less, they didn't earn less money. At first, some managers expected problems, but the results were good. Even though people had less time, they finished their tasks faster because they had fewer meetings. Most employees said they felt less tired and spent more time with their families. Not everyone was happy, though. Even though she liked her free Fridays, one designer said her schedule was too busy from Monday to Thursday. The company has now decided to keep the four-day week.
The employees earned less money for working four days.
Some managers thought there would be problems.
The company had fewer meetings during the four-day week.
Most employees found a new hobby for their Fridays.
The company is going back to a five-day week.
Write your opinion.
Is a four-day working week a good idea? Write your opinion (8–10 sentences). Give reasons for and against, and use although and even though at least three times. Word box: task · schedule · because of · agree to · expect · salary · convenient · colleague Example: Although a four-day week sounds great, I think it would be difficult for some jobs. Even though people would have more free time, their schedule would be busier.
